Feeling Good About What We Do

It makes me feel really depressed because I feel like I’m helping screw people out of money. I also do not like any one I work with and feel that I can do a lot better in life than working here. It’s not where I want to be and not a field I would want to advance in.

Today’s Meditation:

Sometimes we look up and realize that we are part of what’s wrong with the world.

We are the them.

We are doing things that we aren’t proud of.

We wonder and ask ourselves: “Why am I living like this? Why am I doing this? Aren’t I better than this?” Yes…you are.

We can feel good about what we do and our contributions to the family of the world.

We don’t have to do work that we feel harms others.

Back To Sunday’s

I’ve reached the point where Sunday’s are basically a countdown to Monday mornings. I’m having anxiety and depressed about my job. I just can’t take it anymore.

Today’s Meditation:

Every single week we have to face Sunday’s.

Sunday’s shouldn’t seem like a day that is difficult to face; except for those working Monday – Friday in jobs they hate.

Sunday’s take on a special place.  It is the only day standing between you and your sanity, anxiety, deep depression, reprieve time, a break from the madness….on and on…

Today, no matter what day it is say: “May I enjoy Sunday’s again.”  When we can enjoy Sunday’s again we are in a good place.  Again, say: “May I enjoy Sunday’s again.”

Today just ask for what you want… to enjoy Sunday’s again.

Is It The Boss and/or The Work?

Every day is a struggle. I cry and get anxiety thinking about coming in. I hate my boss and the work I do. It has all stress and no reward. I love working with people, but not in this way.

Today’s Meditation:

Sometimes it’s the boss.

Sometimes it’s the work itself.

If it’s the boss AND the work we need to do some real reflection. What is going on with me and the job? Is it working for my boss (that might change someday), or is it the work itself (I need a new profession or assignments), or is it both the Boss and the Job? Double-whammy.

I need to work my “Just Quit” Plan today. I need to do one of the Steps…I’ll pick one, just one.

Forward, Stuck or Backward - What Are Your Strengths?

I hate my job. I don’t get to do what I thought I would be doing. It feels like the role is moving me backwards in my career.

Today’s Meditation:

We are either moving forward, feeling stuck, or moving backward. 

Where are you on that spectrum today?

P.S.

Of course we all want to be moving forward in our careers, but sometimes we are STUCK or going BACKWARDS.

The first thing we need to do to get unstuck or going forward is to recognize where we are and admit it. That is easier said than done.  Why?  Because we then need to do something about it and that is where the rubber hits the road.  That is where we have to make some decisions and many of us…

Have NO IDEA what we are good at, or what we want to do with the rest of our lives.

TODAY…just focus on your strengths.

Strengths are those skills that are innate.  You can use your strengths in any industry, any job, any country, or anywhere.

What are you good at?  What do you love doing?

If you feel you don’t know your strengths, then ask someone who knows you well what they see as your strengths.

One way or the other today your task is to write down three of your strengths.

Just write them down for now…

Getting Through The Day – Take Baby Steps

Stress is making me physically ill. It’s harming my personal relationships and causing my life to stagnate as I feel too paralyzed to make any important decisions in my life.

Today’s Meditation:

Sometimes we feel paralyzed. 

We don’t know what to do. Maybe this is not the time to do anything. Sometimes we don’t need to make any big decisions until we can think clearly. The only thing we can do is make small decisions, take baby steps and just focus on making it though the day.

Celebrate that success. You made it through the day.

Just know that you really aren’t paralyzed.  You will be able to move again, you just need to take your time and give yourself time to work through these feelings.

Safety First - Are There Safety Concerns Where You Work?

Q: Why do you want to quit your job EVEN if you don’t have another job lined-up?

I have concerns about my safety. I don’t like the work anymore.

I do not feel valued as a worker due to my safety concerns not being heard or acted upon.

My boss has bitched about every single worker to me which makes me wonder what she says about me behind my back.  I want a more stable and secure work environment.

Today’s Meditation:

 If you are working in an unsafe environment and it is really bothering you, then write down all of the issues and research the laws that address your concerns.

 NOW…think…brainstorm…can you start a business or a blog or something with this information? find a causeNot necessarily to call out your organization, but to help yourself and others who might have the same concerns where they work. 

 You never know if you write a business plan it might be the next thing that you are meant to do.

We find ourselves in situations for a reason.  There are no mistakes, there are only lessons.  Don’t miss out on this lesson in your life.  What can you do with what you have learned? What you have experienced? What you are going through?  What can you do???

Taking a Day Off Work - A Mental Health Day

Q: Why do you want to quit your job EVEN if you don’t have another job lined-up?

I feel so trapped. No matter what opportunity comes along I know that I have to endure the hectic schedule of a call center. I would love to develop myself in other areas.

 I am unhappy.

 I am either anxious or upset and it is taking its toll on me…this is the second mental health day this month. Sometimes it is not as busy but I am truly unhappy.

 Mental Health

Today’s Meditation:

 We’ve all done it or wanted to do it…take a mental health day.  Just take a day off to re-group. Take a day off to get a break from the place.

 One day here and there is okay; but we know how it goes…now it’s almost EVERY WORKDAY we wake up and we want to take a mental health day.

 If you are so lucky to have days that you can take as mental health days; then use those days to improve your mental health…rhythmically breathe, walk, go out into nature, meditate, eat healthy foods, contemplate, do art, or do something creative…take your mental health day and make it yours. Try not to worry about tomorrow and the fact you’ll have to go back to work…just use that one mental health day to its fullness.

 P.S.

Even if you don’t take an entire day to work on your mental health…for a few minutes today do something that brings you joy, makes you smile, let’s you know you are alive and everything will be okay.  Just do one thing today from your list you created on Jan. 1.
